Township Vibe Backpackers is the first Township Backpackers in Durban and KwaZulu Natal (KZN). We are situated in Westrich, Newlands West, just twenty minutes from the city centre of Durban. Transport can be arranged or jump on a taxi for an experience of a lifetime.

Township Vibe Backpackers offers different beds and rooms. You can choose between a dorm room (4 beds in the room) or a private double room or ensuite.

TOWNSHIP EXPERIENCE
There are a lot of small businesses in the townships. Like the tuckshop. A small shop where you can buy different products from airtime to cigarettes and soft drinks. Every street has at least one tuckshop. Or the carwash, where people wash their car for as little as R30,-. Every township has as well a place where they sell barbequed meat on the street.
Want to experience the real township life? Help one of our friends out for one day, in the tuckshop, carwash or at the meat selling point. How does it work? You help them out for a day, like an employee. What you get back? A real township experience!!

Township Vibe Backpackers is founded by Thami Khuzwayo (TK) and Karlijn Bunnig.
In 2004 the first visitor stayed over in TK's family house. That is when the guesthouse unofficially started. In 2011 we opened our doors as a real Backpackers.
Over the years we have created a very close relationship with the community. We respect them, and they respect us which helps a lot for maintaining the positive vibes around the Backpackers.
Part of the profit of Township Vibe Backpackers goes back to the community by scholarships.
